Reduced flux consumption

Reduced filler metal cost with excellent slag release
Welding more productively with the ICE™ process and completing the job in fewer runs means that flux consumption can be reduced significantly. Process stability also helps reduce flux consumption, melting less flux per kg wire deposited.

In tandem setups with ICE™ head trailing, compared to a tandem setup with a twin trail, the flux consumption is reduced by approximately 20%, while heat input is maintained at the same level. When comparing a tandem ICE™ set-up to a single wire the reduction can as much as 45%.

Slag release with ICE™ is excellent, independent of flux basicity, and produces a smoother top surface compared to conventional SAW, as can be seen in the pictures below, where ESAB's OK 10.72 flux has been used.
