ESAB shows how to weld in BRIC

ESAB shows how to weld in BRIC

Brazil is the first of the BRICs, Brazil, Russia, India and China, a group of emerging powerhouse economies, so it was no surprise that dynamic international welding and cutting technology expert ESAB was in São Paulo for the major engineering exhibition FEIMAFE, earlier this year.

The government recognised exhibition was held at Anhembi Park Exhibition Hall and gave ESAB the chance to show welding and cutting solutions including accessories (PPI or preservation process instructions and gas apparatus).

Attendance at the machine tool and integrated manufacturing systems show proved a considerable success for ESAB since the company sold its first VBA Expert Pro - Plasma in Brazil.

The VBA Expert Pro has proven itself in numerous lines of industry for precision bevelling cuts at angles of +/- 45° with a plasma torch. The working area is suitable for material thicknesses from 6 to 38 mm. Simple integration in a CNC machine system allows safe and perfect handling.

The plasma torch is programmed to move in three axes via servo motors, guaranteeing the highest precision. The VBA Expert Pro automatically positions the nozzle tip exactly on the desired focal point during turning and tilting, even at high speeds.

The VBA Expert Pro was integrated into a SUPRAREX™, a powerful and extremely durable gantry cutting machine with impressive positioning speed.

ESAB had a very successful show receiving many orders, probably not surprising since Brazil is investing heavily in manufacturing and shipbuilding right now.

Orders included 400 welding sets for one manufacturer and a mechanised cutting system along with several welding sets for a Rio de Janeiro based naval and offshore equipment supplier.

Investment in this BRIC emerging economy is being stimulated by the government with Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) offering financial support under a programme known as FINAME, with as much as 70% of investment being covered by state assistance.
