ESAB Argentina wins major contracts for welding and cutting equipment and automation

ESAB, the world-leader in welding and cutting technologies, is extremely active in South America where ESAB Argentina has recently won contracts valued at over US$1.75 million.

Within the automotive sector, ESAB Argentina has sold standard welding equipment to two Tier-1 suppliers, while significant orders for welding automation systems have been received from customers in the wind power industry - and ESAB Argentina is currently pursuing further business opportunities in this sector worth in excess of $8 million.

As well as these contracts for welding equipment and automation, two separate orders have been received for state-of-art automated profile cutting machines, together worth US$200,000.

A further important development in Argentina is a contract to supply special electrodes to a customer in the nuclear industry. The same contract also covers trials of other materials for use in this highly demanding sector, which could lead to additional contracts in the future.

In total the business won by ESAB Argentina during the summer of 2011 is worth over $1.75 million, with additional multi-million-dollar opportunities being actively pursued.

"ESAB invested substantially in new technology in wind tower products  and this is helping our customers develop competitive advantages in difficult markets. These customers will also be able to apply the new ESAB ICETM process to further improve welding speed," says Nazmi Adams, ESAB's Global Head of Consumables.
