Sites using this feature,first prepare by reviewing and cleaning up settings that might make pages inappropriately dynamic. Once completing these preliminary steps, you can begin generating static content. These and subsequent steps walk you through generating static content for your site.
On an authoring server, most settings for generating static content are available under Static Content Generation in the left pane of the Site Administration dashboard.
This section contains these five options once static content generation is enabled. If Static content generation is disabled, only the first link displays.
Static Site Settings - Allows for registration of the static and dynamic URLs, local static directory, and configuration of the browser type for rendering static content. You typically use this dialog for configuring a static site.
Check Static Content – Verifies the consistency of static pages.
Update Static Content - A utility for regenerating static pages for specified subsites and optionally monitoring the background regeneration process. You can run this utility any time.
Advanced Settings – Sets logging options for static content requests.
